Guidelines for writing Resume

Few points to note while writing a resume and sending it via e-mail:

1) Keep your subject line simple, e.g. 'Resume for the post of Systems Engineer'.
2) If you are sending your resume to more than one companies, keep the mails separate. Do not keep all of them in 'To:' or 'Cc:' of a single mail.
3) Double check your resume and e-mail for grammatical mistakes. Keep the 'spell checker' option ON while creating resume or writing e-mail.
4) Its good to add cover letter with resume.
5) Before sending the mail, just check whether you have attached correct resume and cover letter.
6) Always send your updated resumes.
7) Give your complete contact information.
8) Always keep a declaration in the end of resume, saying that details provided by you is correct to the best of your knowledge.
9) You can see sample resumes on web but do not try to copy the exact matter.
10) Try to be yourself, do not exaggerate.
11) Keep the font size 10-12 and font as 'Serif' (Times New Roman) or from 'Sans Serif' font family (Gill Sans, Tahoma, Trebuchet and Verdana).
12) Keep it in PDF format unless asked for a different format. If it is asked to be in Word, then keep the format as '.doc' not '.docx' (supported by MS Office 2007 only).
13) Keep the name of PDF file to 'Resume_firstname_lastname.pdf' OR  'Resume_lastname_firstname.pdf'
